Unknown Morph
Unknown morph is used for a crested gecko when its color, pattern, genetic background, or parentage cannot be identified with confidence. The animal may be a normal-looking bicolor, a mixed harlequin, a low-expression dalmatian, or simply a juvenile whose adult appearance has not developed. In rescues, pet-store purchases, and rehoming situations, unknown is often the most honest label when no breeder records or parent photos are available.
An unknown morph can make an excellent pet, because care depends on the species rather than the label. Provide secure vertical space, foliage and hides, moderate temperatures, and a balanced crested gecko diet; new arrivals also benefit from quarantine and careful weight checks. Breeding unknown animals is best approached conservatively. Without parentage or proven traits, offspring should be described by visible appearance only, and buyers should not be led to expect a specific morph outcome.
