Dictator Baboon Tarantula
Harpactira dictator
The dictator baboon tarantula is a South African species kept by experienced hobbyists. Its dark body carries bronze tones and faint leg striping. Like other Harpactira, it digs and lines its retreat with silk, so a secure, ventilated enclosure needs substantial substrate, shelter and drinking water. Feed appropriately sized insects and preserve breeder or locality records, because related species can look similar. Avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
