Beagle-Harrier

The Beagle-Harrier is a French pack hound developed from Beagle and Harrier type, with the finished breed sitting between them in size. It was bred for organized hunting, especially hare and other game followed by a mounted or walking field. The dog has a clean hound outline, moderate bone, a short tricolor coat, and the stamina to work for hours with other hounds. Although its name sounds like a simple cross, the Beagle-Harrier is treated as a distinct breed in international hound circles.

It remains uncommon outside France and hunting communities, so most people encounter it through working kennels rather than pet advertising. A Beagle-Harrier needs space, daily exercise, and a handler comfortable with scent drive and a carrying voice. It is usually sociable with other dogs, but a secure run or fenced yard is important. Grooming is simple, with ear checks the main routine task.
