Chiweenie
A chiweenie is a mixed-breed dog from Chihuahua and dachshund ancestry, usually bred or identified as a small companion with a longish body, alert expression, and big personality. There is no single registry standard, so size, coat, ears, leg length, and temperament can vary widely. Some look strongly Chihuahua, others more dachshund, and many fall somewhere between the two.
Chiweenie owners should think less about a fixed breed promise and more about the individual dog in front of them. Back length, dental health, weight control, and confident socialization all matter, especially when dachshund build and Chihuahua sensitivity combine. These dogs can be people-oriented and funny, but may bark, guard laps, or chase if not guided early. Responsible breeders and rescues should describe the parents or known history honestly rather than selling the mix as predictable.
