Puggle

The Puggle is a mixed-breed dog, most often a cross between a Pug and a Beagle. The name became common in North America during the designer-dog boom of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, but Puggles are not a standardized purebred breed in the usual kennel-club sense. Their appearance varies: many have a short coat, drop ears, a fawn or tan body with a dark mask, and a muzzle longer than a Pug's but shorter than a Beagle's. Temperament can lean toward either parent, from sociable lap dog to busy scent hound.

A Puggle buyer should expect variety rather than a guaranteed middle ground. The Beagle side may bring strong nose work, food drive, baying, and poor off-leash recall, while the Pug side may bring heat sensitivity, eye exposure, skin-fold issues, or breathing limitations if the muzzle is short. Daily walks, controlled feeding, puzzle work, and early training help channel their energy. Responsible breeders or rescues should be open about the parents, health checks, and the fact that later-generation Puggles do not all look or behave alike.
