Domino Roach
Therea bernhardti
The domino roach is an Indian cockroach whose rounded black adults carry bold pale spots. The long-lived young burrow out of sight and look very different from the striking adults. Specialist colonies use deep organic substrate and hardwood leaf litter, with a moist retreat beneath a drier, ventilated surface. Females lay egg cases, and development can be slow. Its pale spots distinguish it from the orange-spotted Therea regularis and question-mark-patterned Therea olegrandjeani.
