Dorcus curvidens
Dorcus curvidens
Dorcus curvidens is a black stag beetle from South and Southeast Asia maintained in specialist collections. Major males have long curved jaws with conspicuous inner teeth, while females have short jaws. Breeding setups use firm, white-rotted hardwood for egg laying. Larvae can develop in the wood or in prepared fermented hardwood substrate or fungal culture. Different local stocks and related species have long been traded under overlapping names, so documented identification and locality are more useful than a seller's common name.
