Ecuadorian Brown Velvet Tarantula
Megaphobema velvetosoma
The Ecuadorian brown velvet tarantula is a large, hairy species recorded from Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. Its hobby name describes its brown appearance, not its full range. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated ground-level enclosure with substantial substrate, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Leave enough room for the spider to turn and molt without an excessive fall distance. Feed appropriately sized insects and avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
