Tanzanian Black and Olive Baboon Tarantula
Encyocratella olivacea
The Tanzanian black and olive baboon tarantula is a small African species recorded from Tanzania. Adults have olive to orange-brown hairs, dark femora and a patterned abdomen; color can darken with successive molts. It makes extensive silk retreats among bark and other cover. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated enclosure with bark retreats, climbing surfaces, diggable substrate and water. Avoid handling this fast, defensive spider. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
