Emerald Skeleton Tarantula
Ephebopus uatuman
The emerald skeleton tarantula comes from the Brazilian Amazon. Adult females have a pale brown carapace, darker legs and a green metallic sheen on the abdomen. Narrow yellow knee rings contrast with the bold lengthwise ivory stripes of Ephebopus murinus; it lacks the blue mouthparts of the blue fang tarantula.
Specialist keepers provide a solitary, secure enclosure with deep diggable substrate, a retreat, ventilation and water. In nature it builds a silk-collared burrow in damp forest soil. Females lay eggs in silk sacs. Avoid handling.
