Eurasian Harvest Mouse
Micromys minutus
A tiny Eurasian rodent with warm brown fur, a pale belly and a long grasping tail. It climbs grass stems and builds woven nests above the ground, unlike the ground-burrowing striped grass mouse. Specialist small-mammal and zoo teams provide secure enclosures with dense grasslike climbing cover, nesting material and small food items. Females give birth to litters of live young. This species is distinct from unrelated New World harvest mice.
