Martes martes
A slender woodland carnivore of Europe and western Asia, with rich brown fur, a creamy-yellow throat bib, pale-edged ears and a long bushy tail. It climbs well and eats small animals and fruit. Zoo carnivore teams provide secure climbing routes, covered dens and varied foraging opportunities. Females give birth to live kits. The yellowish bib and dark nose help distinguish it from stone marten, whose bib is usually whiter.
