Falanouc
Eupleres goudotii
A Malagasy carnivore with a stocky body, unusually narrow pointed muzzle and a thick cylindrical tail. The eastern form pictured has fawn-brown fur and a pale belly. It forages through moist forest litter for earthworms and other invertebrates. Specialist zoo carnivore teams provide secure sheltered ground space and opportunities to search for food. Females give birth to live young. It lacks the broad dorsal stripes of Galidictis fasciata.
