False German Cockroach
Blattella lituricollis
The false German cockroach is a small Blattella from tropical and subtropical Asia and nearby islands. It can resemble the German cockroach and is maintained in research colonies. Japanese records describe groups sheltering under ground debris in coastal and cultivated areas, sometimes near homes. Captive colonies need secure, ventilated shelters, food and access to moisture. Females produce egg cases. Fine abdominal and genital characters help distinguish similar Blattella species.
