Tuxedo
A tuxedo fancy guppy is recognized by a dark rear body that contrasts with a lighter front half and colored fins, giving the fish the look of a jacket over the caudal peduncle. The same pattern is often called half-black, especially when the black area is dense and covers much of the posterior body. Tail and dorsal colors vary widely, producing names such as blue tuxedo, red tuxedo, yellow tuxedo, and albino tuxedo. Females may show a gray to black body block even when their fins are subdued.
Maintaining tuxedo guppies means selecting for a sharp color break, deep dark pigment, and a tail color that stays clean rather than muddy. They fit well in peaceful tropical community aquariums, though long-finned males are vulnerable to fin nippers and rough current. Like other livebearers, they reproduce quickly, and stored sperm can complicate planned pairings after a female has been housed with mixed males. Quarantine and separate grow-out tanks are useful when adding new half-black or tuxedo stock to an established line.
