Unclassified Variety
Unclassified variety is a practical label for fancy guppies that do not fit a recognized color, pattern, or finnage category, or whose traits are still being sorted out. A fish might combine blue mosaic, cobra, dragon, albino, half-black, dumbo ear, or other ancestry in a way that is attractive but not easy to name. It is not a separate species or a fixed breed; it describes a guppy whose phenotype falls outside the categories being used by the keeper, seller, or show.
These guppies can make lively aquarium fish and useful breeding experiments, but their offspring should be expected to vary. A hobbyist trying to develop a new line will need to test pairings and raise enough fry to see what traits repeat. For casual keepers, care is the same as for other Poecilia reticulata: warm clean water, plant cover, peaceful tankmates, and small varied foods. Unclassified guppies should never be released outdoors, since guppies establish feral populations in suitable climates.
