File-Eared Tree Frog
Polypedates otilophus
This large treefrog lives in Borneo's forests and is bred by specialist amphibian keepers. Adults have a tan, wood-grained back, striped flanks and raised ridges behind the ears. Keepers provide tall planted enclosures with sturdy perches, ventilation, misting, clean water and supplemented insect prey. It lays eggs in a foam nest above water; the tadpoles drop into the water as the nest breaks down. Its bony ear ridges distinguish it from the smoother four-lined treefrog.
