Flat Horned Hissing Cockroach
Aeluropoda insignis
The flat-horned hissing cockroach is a wingless Madagascan hisser known for its flattened adults. Mature males are especially thin in profile, while females carrying young can be much thicker. Adults vary in color, including cherry-red abdomens. Captive colonies use bark shelters, organic substrate, ventilation and access to food and moisture. Females retain their egg cases and release live nymphs. All stages climb smooth surfaces, so a secure lid is essential.
