Fort Hall Baboon Tarantula
Pterinochilus lugardi
The Fort Hall baboon tarantula, also sold as the Dodoma baboon, is recorded across parts of eastern and southern Africa. Adults are pale gray with yellowish leg joints and a dark spotted and barred abdomen. It digs silk-lined retreats and is kept by experienced hobbyists in a secure, ventilated enclosure with deep substrate, shelter and drinking water. Common names do not reliably establish locality. Avoid handling this fast spider. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
