Gabon Blue Dwarf Baboon Tarantula
Heterothele gabonensis
The Gabon blue dwarf baboon tarantula is a small African species recorded from Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Adults have dark blue legs, a gold-bordered head and a patterned brown abdomen. A 2026 revision separated Heterothele longipalpis from it again, so older records may combine two species.
Keep reliable breeder and locality records rather than relying on a blue trade label. Experienced keepers provide secure, ventilated housing with substrate, a silk retreat and drinking water. Offer suitably small insects and avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
