Banatian White
The Banatian White is a white goat associated with the Banat region of southeastern Europe, an area spanning parts of Romania, Serbia, and neighboring districts. It is generally treated as a local dairy or dual-purpose breed shaped by village farming, household milk use, and regional selection. The white coat gives the name, but the practical identity also includes udder quality, body capacity, and adaptation to the mixed pasture and crop systems of the area.
Management is similar to that of other European dairy goats kept in small and medium herds. Banatian White goats need clean housing, steady forage, mineral support, hoof care, and breeding plans that maintain milk ability without sacrificing hardiness. In regions where local breeds compete with imported dairy genetics, preservation depends on knowing which animals truly come from Banatian lines. Farmers and registries may track milk records, kidding intervals, and family groups to keep the breed useful rather than only historically interesting.
