Hasi
The Hasi goat is a Balkan regional goat associated with the Hasi area of Albania and Kosovo, where goats have traditionally supported hill and village households. It is a local working type rather than a heavily commercialized breed, shaped by browsing, seasonal movement, and small ruminant dairying. Animals may vary in coat color and frame, but the core identity is a resilient goat adapted to rough forage and family-scale milk and meat production.
For owners, Hasi goats make the most sense in systems that can use their browsing ability and moderate demands. They need sound fencing, dry shelter, good kid care, and mineral support, especially where rocky pasture is replaced by more confined paddocks. Conservation value lies in keeping the local adaptation intact, so breeding should emphasize hardy does, functional udders, strong feet, and known family lines rather than selecting only for color or size.
