Kaghani
The Kaghani goat is associated with the Kaghan region of northern Pakistan, where steep valleys and seasonal grazing have shaped practical mountain livestock. It is generally viewed as a hardy local goat used for meat, milk, and sometimes hair, with a frame and coat suited to cooler upland conditions. Like many regional goats, it may show variation between flocks depending on altitude, grazing route, and household selection.
Kaghani goats are most useful where owners can work with their mountain background instead of treating them like confined lowland animals. They need dry shelter, firm footing, gradual diet changes, and enough forage or browse to maintain condition through winter and kidding. Breeders should favor strong legs, sound mouths, good maternal behavior, and kids that grow well on local feed. Clear records of origin help distinguish true regional stock from ordinary mixed hill goats.
