Sirohi
The Sirohi goat is an Indian dual-purpose goat from the arid and semi-arid parts of Rajasthan, especially the Sirohi district, with populations also kept in Gujarat and neighboring states. It is a compact, fairly large native breed with a deep body, drooping leaf-shaped ears, short curved horns, and a coat that is commonly brown, fawn, or tan with lighter or darker patches. Sirohi goats are valued for meat production and useful household milk, and many lines cope well with heat, sparse browse, and crop-residue feeding.
On farms, Sirohi goats are often managed in smallholder or semi-intensive systems, using daytime browsing with stall feeding during dry periods or finishing. They need shade, clean water, goat minerals, and dry bedding, especially when moved into wetter regions where hoof trouble and internal parasites can rise. Buyers usually compare lines for growth rate, kid survival, udder quality, and temperament rather than coat color alone.
