Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
Rhinopithecus roxellana
A forest monkey of mountainous China, recognized by its pale blue face, tiny upturned nose and golden-orange fur contrasting with darker shoulders and back. The portrait shows an adult male with long golden shoulder hair. Zoo primate teams manage social groups with climbing structures, sheltered retreats and a specialist leafy diet. Females give birth to live infants. US primate-import restrictions apply; it is US ESA endangered and CITES Appendix I listed.
