Curly Breasted Sebastopol Goose
The Curly Breasted Sebastopol Goose is a Sebastopol-type domestic goose selected for curled feathering, especially visible across the breast and body. Sebastopol geese are famous for soft, loose, curling feathers that create a decorative outline unlike smooth-feathered utility breeds. Curly-breasted birds may appear within ornamental breeding programs where feather texture and coverage are central selection points.
These geese need more feather-conscious care than ordinary farm geese. Their plumage can hold mud, ice, and moisture, so clean bedding, dry shelter, and access to bathing water that does not leave them chilled are important. Curly feathers can also reduce weather protection and flight ability. Breeders should balance curl with fertility, leg strength, body condition, and normal behavior, because extreme feathering is not useful if it leaves birds uncomfortable or difficult to maintain.
