Czech Crested Goose
The Czech Crested Goose is a domestic goose associated with Czech poultry traditions and recognized for a crest on the head. It is generally a medium farm goose rather than a giant meat breed, with the crest adding identity without replacing the need for utility traits. Birds may be kept for exhibition, meat, eggs, and conservation of a local European type.
Crested geese require ordinary goose care plus attention to the crest. The feathered head area should stay clean and free of injury, and breeders should avoid selecting for features that interfere with vision, mating, or vigor. Pasture, bathing water, secure housing, and balanced feed remain essential. In breeding programs, records of hatchability, crest quality, body type, and family line are useful because rare crested breeds can lose either health or breed character if selection becomes too narrow.
