Huoyan Goose
Huoyan goose is a Chinese domestic goose breed associated especially with Liaoning and northeastern China, where it has been selected more for eggs than for very heavy market weights. English sources may spell the name Huo Yan or Huoyan; it is a light, active goose with the long neck and basal bill knob typical of many Chinese goose breeds. Most described flocks are white or mostly white with orange bills and feet, though local birds may be recorded under broader domestic goose color terms.
Small farms value Huoyan geese for grazing ability, alertness, and comparatively high laying potential, so breeding programs usually watch egg number, fertility, hatchability, and sound legs rather than exhibition markings alone. They do best with pasture or cut greens, clean water deep enough to wash the head, and shelter from wind during northern winters. As with other lighter Chinese-type geese, temperament can be vocal and watchful; buyers should ask whether stock is kept for production, conservation, or backyard utility.
