Obroshino Goose
The Obroshino goose, also written Obroshynska, is a Ukrainian domestic goose breed developed around the Obroshyno research station near Lviv. It is associated with western Ukraine and with selection from local geese, with some lines described in gray, white, or gray-and-white forms. The breed was shaped for practical farm use: a solid body for meat, reasonable egg production, and the ability to perform under regional feeding and climate conditions rather than under an exhibition-only standard.
Obroshino geese fit pasture systems where grass, grain supplements, and simple water access are available. They still need secure housing at night and dry footing in cold or wet weather, especially for goslings. Because the breed is uncommon in many countries, serious keepers should ask about strain, color variety, and breeding history before buying eggs or birds. Conservation breeding should avoid repeated close matings while keeping Obroshino stock separate from general gray farm geese.
