Podkarpacka Goose
The Podkarpacka goose is a Polish regional goose associated with the Podkarpackie, or Subcarpathian, region of southeastern Poland. It represents a local farm type maintained for meat, grazing, seasonal eggs, and preservation of regional poultry diversity. Like many local geese, it may not be widely known outside conservation or agricultural circles, but its value lies in adaptation and local identity.
Podkarpacka geese should be managed with pasture, clean water, secure shelter, and feed that supports breeding without excessive fat. Flock records are important if the line is being preserved: source, family, color, hatchability, growth, and mature size all help define the population. Breeders should select for hardy goslings, sound legs, and reliable reproduction. The name should stay attached to documented regional stock rather than being used for any Polish-looking farm goose.
