Wanxi White Goose
The Wanxi white goose is a Chinese regional goose associated with the Wanxi area of Anhui and nearby production traditions. It is a white domestic goose kept for meat, eggs, and local agricultural value, with the regional name distinguishing it from the many other white goose populations in China. The type is practical rather than ornamental, and its importance lies in adaptation to local feeding, breeding, and market systems.
Wanxi white geese should be managed as productive grazing waterfowl. They need pasture or green feed, clean water, secure housing, and careful nutrition during laying and growth. Breeders should track fertility, hatchability, body weight, and source lines, especially if the goal is to maintain a recognizable Wanxi population. Buyers should ask about origin and breeding history because white plumage alone cannot separate this goose from other Chinese or farmyard white geese.
