Wuzhong Goose
The Wuzhong goose is a local Chinese domestic goose type known from breed lists under the Wuzhong name, rather than a widely standardized Western show breed. Like many regional farm geese, it is best understood as a landrace or locality-based strain selected for meat, eggs, grazing ability, and household production. Flocks may show grey, brown, white-patterned, or pied plumage depending on the source and any past crossing, so the name is most useful when tied to a documented region or breeder line.
Smallholders keep geese of this type on pasture, field margins, ponds, and post-harvest land, with secure night housing to reduce predator losses. Breeding stock should be chosen for fertility, sound legs, gosling vigor, and the production traits that matter to the flock, because formal pedigrees may be unavailable outside the source area. Buyers should confirm whether birds are pure Wuzhong stock or general Chinese-type geese sold under a regional name.
