Brazilian Woolly Black Tarantula
Grammostola actaeon
The Brazilian woolly black tarantula is a large, dark, hairy species recorded from Brazil and Uruguay. Its shaggy appearance distinguishes the hobby label, but reliable breeder records remain important for identification. Provide a secure, ventilated ground-level enclosure with substantial substrate, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Feed appropriately sized insects and leave it undisturbed during molts. Avoid handling, since a fall can injure a heavy terrestrial tarantula. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
