Greater Bamboo Lemur
Prolemur simus
A Malagasy forest lemur with gray-brown fur, conspicuous pale ear tufts and a blunt, rounded muzzle. It specializes on bamboo and uses humid forest and bamboo thickets. Zoo conservation teams provide climbing space, shelter and a tightly managed bamboo-based feeding program. Females give birth to live infants. US primate-import restrictions apply, and the species is US ESA endangered and CITES Appendix I listed. It is distinct from the longer-snouted brown lemurs.
