Green Mantella
Mantella viridis
This robust mantella is endemic to northern Madagascar and is bred by amphibian hobbyists. Adults may be yellow-green or bright green; the teal-green form shown has a partial dark face mask and a dark belly with pale blue-white marks. Keepers provide a ventilated, humid terrarium with leaf litter, shelters, shallow clean water and supplemented small insects, while avoiding overheating. Females lay eggs in damp cover, and the larvae develop in water. Its green limbs differ from the climbing mantella's dark limbs.
