Headlamp Roach
Eublaberus serranus
The headlamp roach is a large South American Eublaberus maintained by specialist breeders. Adults have brown wings and a dark head-shield patch enclosing two pale spots; the markings vary among individuals. Captive stock includes animals from the Pantanal of Brazil. Colonies need organic digging substrate, sheltered moist retreats, ventilation and varied food. Females retain their egg cases and release live nymphs. The variable markings mean that a headlamp-like pattern alone does not establish species identity.
