Hogna lenta
Hogna lenta
Hogna lenta is a wolf spider from the southeastern United States, especially Florida. Adults are gray-brown with a pale center stripe between darker carapace bands and a dark mark near the front of the abdomen; similar wolf spiders require closer examination. Captive research documents surface hunting and ambushes at burrow entrances.
Specialist keepers provide individual, secure housing with burrow-supporting substrate, moisture and insect prey. Avoid handling. Females produce silk egg sacs, and young stay with their mother until their first molt.
