Trinidad Pink Tarantula
Holothele longipes
The Trinidad pink tarantula is a small species with a broad accepted range from Central America through northern South America, including Trinidad and Tobago. Black legs contrast with red-to-black head and abdominal hairs and a reddish fringe around the head. Its trade name does not establish locality.
This quick spider makes a sheltered ground-level retreat. Keepers provide secure, ventilated housing with moisture-retaining substrate, shelter and water; ventilation gaps must contain a small spider. Offer suitably sized insects and avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
