Homoeogryllus xanthographus

Homoeogryllus xanthographus is a small chocolate-brown cricket kept by specialist insect breeders. Adult males have broad, rounded, leathery wings with conspicuous raised chestnut-red veins. Females have a long, straight egg-laying tube, while males produce a birdlike evening song. Captive colonies need escape-proof, ventilated housing with bark shelters, a moist corner and a drier area. A varied dry diet is supplemented with vegetables. Females deposit eggs into moist substrate.
