Abaga
The Abaga is a horse associated with the Abaga region of Inner Mongolia, where local horses have long been shaped by steppe climate, open grazing, and pastoral work. It is generally described as a hardy riding and herding type rather than a highly specialized sport horse. Like many regional Mongolian horse populations, it is valued for stamina, surefootedness, and the ability to live in demanding weather.
Management of Abaga horses is usually discussed in the context of range systems, seasonal forage, and practical riding. They may be smaller and tougher than many warmblood or light horse breeds, but they still need hoof attention, parasite control, and careful transition if moved from extensive grazing to stabled care. Breeders and buyers should pay close attention to source region and working background, since local strain names can be used unevenly outside their home area.
