Marwari
The Marwari is an Indian horse breed from Rajasthan, instantly recognized by ears that curve inward and may nearly meet at the tips. It developed in desert and semi-arid country as a riding, cavalry, ceremonial, and prestige horse. Marwaris are usually medium sized, hardy, alert, and capable of covering distance in heat, with some lines showing a smooth ambling gait valued by riders.
Ownership and breeding require attention to bloodline, temperament, climate, and legal context, since movement of Indian native breeds can be regulated. These horses often thrive with sensitive handling and clear work, but they are not ornaments; they need sound nutrition, shade, hoof care, and conditioning just like any active riding horse. Buyers should be cautious about selecting only for curled ears, because usefulness depends on structure, soundness, and mind.
