Hottentotta jayakari

Hottentotta jayakari is an Arabian scorpion well documented in Oman. Its dark body, yellowish legs and two pale basal tail segments contrast with the dark tail tip. The middle arm segment is dark, unlike the paler arm of H. salei. It is kept by experienced scorpion specialists in a secure enclosure with rock-like refuges, diggable substrate and water. Clinical reports under this name describe painful, medically important stings, so it is a hands-off display animal. Females bear live young.
