Hottentotta salei
Hottentotta salei
Hottentotta salei occurs in Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Its dark body and pincers contrast with yellowish legs, pale upper arm segments and the first three pale tail segments; H. jayakari has a darker middle arm segment and third tail segment. This specialist display scorpion needs a secure enclosure with shelter, diggable substrate and water. Formerly treated as a form of H. jayakari, it is now a separate species. Avoid handling and relying on trade labels alone. Females bear live young.
