Hustler Cockroach
Eurycotis lixa
The hustler cockroach is a large, glossy black Eurycotis kept by specialist breeders. Adults have very reduced wings, and established captive stock includes animals collected in Florida Keys palmetto litter. It resembles the Florida skunk cockroach in size and general shape. Colonies need bark shelters, ventilation and a moisture gradient: adults tolerate drier conditions, but females place their egg cases in moist crevices. This climbing species needs a secure lid and carefully screened openings.
