Lemur Leaf Frog
Agalychnis lemur
This slender leaf frog occurs in Central American forests and is bred in zoo conservation programs and specialist collections. Its large pale eyes, yellow sides and green daytime coloring distinguish it from stockier leaf frogs. Keepers provide tall planted enclosures, broad leaves, climbing branches, clean water and small supplemented insects.
Cooler nights and ventilation let the resting leaves dry between mistings. Females lay eggs on leaves above water, where the tadpoles fall after hatching. CITES Appendix II applies, with a zero annual quota for wild specimens traded commercially.
