Tiger Funnel Web Spider
Linothele fallax
The tiger funnel web spider is a South American species recorded from Bolivia and Brazil. Long rear spinnerets help it build extensive sheet webs and silk tunnels around sheltered retreats. It belongs to a different group from the Australian funnel-web spiders. Specialist keepers provide secure, ventilated ground-level housing with substrate, shelter and plentiful web anchors. Feed suitably sized insects and avoid handling this quick spider. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
