Lobe-Winged Cockroach
Loboptera decipiens
The lobe-winged cockroach is a small southern European roach with a dark body outlined in pale white. Adults have reduced wing lobes and cannot fly. It occurs in relatively dry habitats and is maintained in specialist colonies. Housing needs strong ventilation, dry shelters and a moist corner rather than uniformly wet substrate. Females lay egg cases. The bright orange young differ from the darker adults, and all stages need secure containment because they can climb.
