Lyrate Assassin Mimic
Paranauphoeta lyrata
The lyrate assassin mimic is a small Paranauphoeta kept by specialist breeders. Adults combine muted purple-brown wings, jagged markings on the head shield and subtle square-like wing patches. It is smaller than the Taiwanese assassin mimic. Colonies need sheltered organic substrate, a moisture gradient and particularly good ventilation; stagnant conditions are unsuitable. Females retain their egg cases and release live young. Adults climb, so the lid and vents must close securely.
