Lyrognathus crotalus
Lyrognathus crotalus
Lyrognathus crotalus is a tarantula from northeastern India, where records include the Khasi and Garo Hills. Adult females are dark brown with gray-brown leg bristles and conspicuously thick, hairy hind legs. A modern revision treats Lyrognathus pugnax as the same species. Identification relies on anatomical details rather than a general brown appearance.
Species-specific captive guidance is limited; retain locality records and seek specialist advice. Provide secure, ventilated housing with substrate, a retreat and drinking water. Avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
