Sumatran Stout Leg Tarantula
Lyrognathus giannisposatoi
The Sumatran stout leg tarantula is known from lowland forest near the Mesuji River in Sumatra, Indonesia. It is robust, with a notably hairy carapace border and hind legs longer than the front pair. It burrows on raised ground above the floodplain. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated enclosure with deep substrate, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Avoid handling. Females produce silk egg sacs; captive breeding was documented in its original description.
